Amazing set of four battlefields. Driving tour is totally worth the price in the gift shops helps understand and highlight all the major points. Must see in Virginia.

Great hikes to be had here through forests into open meadows, the history behind it all just adds to the atmosphere.

If you lived here as a kid & went to school in the area, you most definitely went here & all the other historical sites around here.

"During the Wilderness campaign the city was again occupied by the Union...The ruin, commenced in December (1862), was complete before the close of the war, and little remained but deserted houses."

"Just below the Falls of the Rappahannock, and midway between Washington and Richmond, is the city of Fredericksburg, the scene of some of the most thrilling events of the war."

"On the night of the 10th of December, the movements for an attack commenced...engineers had constructed bridges across the stream, when the Confederate sharpshooters opened fire from the houses."

Peaceful place to walk. December 13, 1862 Battle of Fredericksburg, biggest Union defeat. Cemetery is overwhelming. Great view of the city. My favorite place in Fredericksburg.
