The inside of the restaurant has wooden ceilings and booths, along with Western decor, while the exterior has a stagecoach perched on the roof.

Originally opened in 1950 by Bud Smithson as the Motaurant, an upscale restaurant with a lounge attached, The Golden Slipper, it featured live music. It became the Butterfield Stage Co in 1979.
