If the bridge for under the tunnel isn't in place, there's a path over the railroad left where the fence begins in the brush.

Got a toddler? A carrying backpack is super helpful on the way back up, after a hard day of playing on the beach.

Great hike - lots of beautiful sounds and fresh, outdoorsy smells. And I heard at least 10 different languages on the trail. Your reward is the Sound and lots of beach.

The tunnel to the beach is flooded today (2/25/13), which is disappointing, but the hike is really pretty. The first (or last, depending in where you're coming from) 1/2 mile is a pretty decent hill.
